I purchased this book to assist me with planning my holiday to Pacific Harbour. I found the information helpful but very limited. The information about the Arts Centre was very dated and quite a disappointing experience. Ultimately though, it would've been more helpful for those travelling to the various islands of Fiji. In short, it was a wonderful holiday. The fusion of Indian/Fijian islander cultures was definitely interesting but the book didn't really prepare me for this. Advice about water quality (we were advised to drink bottled water or boil the water by the resort) and transport around Fiji would've been helpful. The extreme poverty was a real shock to see. I don't think the book prepared me enough for this.

Well worth the price for an overview of all parts of the most popular islands. I would have liked to see reviews of restaurants on Denarau Island, including the new marina center, but the author couldn't do that for all the areas addressed in the book. Westbus fares were off; less than stated at only $1.15 FD. Another improvment would be local bus services outside the Nadi area. I only saw the 2.5 hour bus to Suva, which would have taken too much time for our time there. As many (most?) visitors don't venture much out of the Nadi/Denarau area, a version of the book with emphasis on that area would be more useful.

Great, Great, Great. It cover most of what you would want to see and do. Informative and fairly accurate. Of course you need to factor in the date of publication and sometimes place have closed or moved. Overall, worth the purchase.

Very useful. Its inserts for Suva that mentioned squatter settlements and night life opened my trip to areas that I might have overlooked. The brief historical section is very helpful. It might add a few words about the British policy of keeping Fijians in their villages, under their chiefs, as an influence on today's population dynamics. The political section is out of date.

Book as it is is standard quality LP, good maps, hotel info etc. But is 5 years old so I am not relying on it for current info. Also, there is obviously no post-cyclone information so better to verify whether hotels and businesses have re-opened. LP needs new edition with post-cyc infor.

Okay I am biased... I love LP guides and after them for over 20 years I still think these are the best travel guides out there. The information is accurate, easy to understand and full of great tips for an "off the beaten path experience". The writers are first experienced and tell it how it really is. As a result I am braver and more adventurous. LP have given me confidence to seek out unique and amazing experiences I would never have found on my own. On my Fiji trip I ended up renting a car and heading into the remote villages, I knew exactly what to expect and how to act. I met some great genuine people, played skipping stones with kids, fished with the locals, ate wild pig curry, spent time at the village preschool. You just cant buy than on a tour.

Always full of great information. I have been using the Lonely planet guides since my first trip to Thailand in 1987.

I purchased this e book just before my trio to Fiji. Fantastic reference and extremely accurate. Lonely Planet books I find are an excellent travel guide but some can be heavy to cart around in your back pack or handbag. This time I opted for the kindle edition and it was a great choice. I didn't get to visit too many of the islands but the information in this book was pretty accurate with what I did see.I will definitely be using this travel guide again in my next trio to Fiji soon.
