ThisI purchased several books from the recommended list but was so overwhelmed with the amount of studying that was outlined by the CPAN/CAPA 12 week plan. I was desperate for a less overwhelming way to study. This book was it. When I ran into a question that I didn't know the answer to I had both the rational for the correct answer & the reference to go to & read. I went through the book twice & read the rapid ref book that I also purchased from Amazon. It's been over 35 years since nursing school & this was an excellent review. Very happy to say that I passed the CAPA on my 1st try!I

I purchased this to study for my CAPA exam in Nov 2018. Unfortunately, the book does not differentiate between CAPA and cpan questions. The book really helps you focus in on main topics for the exam. Honestly, the questions were harder in book than on the actual exam. The rationales were awesome. If I needed further explanation I used my drains book. I passed my CAPA examine in one try. I recommend buying the CAPA questions on the aspan website. The layout of the practice exams mirrored the exam. I also recommend buying the pearls? Exam questions for $10 in your phones App Store (just search CAPA/cpan). There’s over 500 questions. The Aspan app also has 50 questions to purchase for $10. Good luck fellow nurses!

I passed the CPAN on the first try studying for about a month using this book and the previous version of the book (3e) only. I've been a PACU nurse at a large level 1 trauma center for 4 years. The questions in here are slightly harder than the CPAN but that's good practice. There are some grammatical errors in the book but there were some on the test too!

Not quite what I expected; the CAPA and the CPAN questions are mixed throughout the text with no distinction, so studying for one or the other exclusively is proving to be a challenge. After using other question-and-answer methods to study for other certification exams through a 30 year career in nursing, I was looking for a little more explanation in the answer section. I find this book explains very little; it mostly lists the sources of the answer in other books. We'll see how much this helps in my CAPA testing.
