Even after I saw the negative reviews, I still purchased this guide and I am glad I did. The pages are no thinner than any other guidebook that has been made. My advice is to disregard the negative reviews below. Guides have always been made with lighter paper because they contain an assortment of valuable information, and this guide is meant to be carried with you on your travels with minimal weight. The information, paper and materials of this book are great and very clear to read. The font on the other side of the page does not bleed through, unless your intentially trying to get it too (just like any book). This book is a valuable resource to have and highly recommend. It even includes a fold out map, a must for any true traveler. I even picked up the French phrasebook also my Rick Steve's, that one is amazing as well.

This review is not on the content of the book as I have not had a chance to read it. The paper is so thin, more thin than newspaper and I can see the pages ripping very easily. Also, the text bleeds through the other side because of the transparency of the paper. Never saw a book printed like this before.

I purchased the Kindle version and it is fantastic like all of Rick Steves other guides! We're going to Paris next year and I checked several different guides at my library (they didn't have Rick Steves available) but the way the guides were presented was just a mass of confusion and I couldn't figure out how to plan my time there. Finally I just purchased Rick's guide and after reading and taking notes cover to cover, I now have a clear plan for our 5-day Paris trip. He lays out everything so it makes sense and planning is a breeze. Thank you Rick Steves!

I travel a bunch and I love Rick Steve's books. The little touches of humor are great, and the guides are always very easy to follow and up to date. The paper is thin (noted by other reviewers) but the same as all of the Rick Steve's guides. This is how they put 400+ pages in and is still small enough to fit in your carryon.

The other reviews complaining of thin pages are silly. You can read the pages just fine. Given a trade off of thin pages vs the weight of heavier paper stock, I would opt for the weight consideration any day.

We had a quick visit to Paris recently and we picked this up prior. This book was indispensable for us. It gave you up to date info on the numerous site, hotels, and travel around Paris. I know with this book we are ready for our next visit to Paris. We found restaurants, bakeries, popular places to see and visit that we had not heard of. A great purchase!

My husband and I love the Rick Steves books. He not only tells you about where you are going but also gives tips on how to navigate places and things to avoid.

We recently came back from a week in Paris using this book to maximize our time there. In addition to providing detailed descriptions of all the sights and museums to see, there are detailed tours in each of the areas which is a great help to see so much in a short period of time. We definitely recommend this book.
